Hot Applesauce Cake

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Cut a circle of wax paper to fit a 9 or 10" plain NOT fluted, tube pan. Spray the pan with nonstick vegetable coating. Put the wax paper in the pan and spray again; set aside.
  • On to wax paper,sift together flour,cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt. Add nuts and raisins and mix to coat.
  • In another bowl, mix butter, sugar and eggs. Stir in dry ingredients to form batter.
  • In a medium saucepan, heat applesauce until very hot. Stir in baking soda and add to batter.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake in preheated oven for 1 hour. Let sit 10 min. and remove from pan.
  • Wrap in plastic wrap while still warm.
  • Makes 18 servings
