Margarine may be substituted for the shortening but do not use the low fat type of margarine

3	cups	plain flour
1	cup	buttermilk
2	cups	sugar
3		eggs
2	teaspoons	extract flavoring (vanilla, almond, or lemon, your choice)
1	cup	shortening
1/2	teaspoon	baking soda
1/2	teaspoon	salt

• Grease and flour tube pan.
• Preheat over to 350 degrees.
• Blend sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time. Add flavoring.
• Sift flour, baking soda, and salt and add to batter alternately with buttermilk.
• Bake at 350 for 1 hour. Let cool before removing from pan.
