Tropical Loaf

Pour the buttermilk over the bran. Add bananas and stir into the bran mixture. Blend the shortening and sugar; add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda into the egg mixture alternately with the banana-buttermilk combination. Stir in the apricots and nuts. Pour into a buttered loaf pan, and bake at 350F for 45 minutes. When it comes out of the oven, golden and gorgeous, brush the top with a glaze of warm honey.
