Raisin Oatmeal Bread

Combine butter, milk, honey, and salt in saucepan. Heat until butter melts; cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in warm water; add to cooled liquid. Stir in 3 cups flour and beat well to develop gluten. Stir in oatmeal and raisins and as much flour as can be incorporated in the bowl, then turn out on board and knead in enough flour to make a workable dough. Knead thoroughly, until dough is smooth and elastic. Place in oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and allow to rise in warm place about 1 hour. Punch down; form 2 loaves. Allow to rise another hour, or until dough has doubled. Bake 45 minutes at 375F. Remove from pans and allow to cool before slicing.
