Poppy Seed Loaf

Beat the sugar with the eggs. Blend in the oil and milk, then add them to the egg mixure alternately with the f lour, baking powder, and salt, sifted together. Stir in the poppy seeds and lemon rind. Pour the batter into a well-buttered loaf pan. Sprinkle a few poppy seeds on top. Bake at 350F for 45 minutes.
