Mulled Cranberry Cider

  • Remove orange peel; cut into strips. Squeeze juice from orange, discarding seeds and pulp.
  • In large saucepan combine orange juice, fruit drink, and brown sugar. In an 8-inch square of 100-percent cotton cheesecloth, combine orange peel, cinnamon, whole cloves, and, if desired, star anise.
  • Bring up corners of cheesecloth and tie with cotton string. Add to saucepan. Bring mixture to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 10 minutes. Remove and discard spices. Serve warm.
  • Garnish with more orange peel, if desired.
